Dr John Peaty

John holds a PhD and MA in War Studies from King’s College London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and of the Royal Historical Society. He serves on the Council of the British Cartographic Society (Convener of the Historical Military Mapping Group) and is the International Secretary of the British Commission for Military History. He also serves on the Council of the Society for Army Historical Research (Chair of the Templer Medal Committee). He is a founder member of the Royal Air Force Historical Society and a life member of the Institute of Historical Research. He has published many articles, chapters and essays and lectured widely to both specialist and non-specialist audiences both in the UK and overseas. He works for the Ministry of Defence, where currently he is with the Defence Geographic Centre.
