Job Title: GIS Consultant – Environmental Resources Management (ERM) Location: Oxford and London

We are currently looking for a number of professional, dedicated and specialist GIS Consultants to join our successful team in Oxford and London in order to provide GIS advice and services on projects across the business; undertaking work in order to achieve positive outcomes for ERM’s clients.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To assist the GIS team with a focus on geospatial data manipulation, analysis and visualisation.
To be responsible for delivering quality projects and growing existing clients, participating in innovation initiatives and coaching and training colleagues in these services
To provide advice, challenge and support to clients in determining optimal approaches to achieve their business and sustainability objectives – using knowledge of GIS software and geospatial data
To contribute effectively to projects – undertaking research and analysis of spatial data, together with data visualisation in accordance with the brief and budget to ensure project specifications are met.
To manage small projects in accordance with the requirements of ERM’s project management system, including taking responsibility for client liaison, budgeting adherence to QA procedures and progress, project and financial monitoring in order to ensure that all projects are delivered to budget
To identify and follow up business opportunities with existing and new clients in collaboration with more senior members of the team to maximise sales.
To prepare or assist in the preparation of project proposals, marketing and presentation materials to produce high quality proposals
To ensure that project utilisation targets are met or exceeded in order to contribute to meeting team and company targets.
Some overseas and national travel will be expected as part of the role.
Key Competencies:
A BSc Degree or Masters Degree in GIS is essential for this role and an understanding of key GIS datasets and their usage restrictions is also required.
Expertise in ESRI’s ArcGIS 10 software is ideal
Essential skills:
Effective relationship building skills, with strong collaborative working skills and effective interpersonal and influencing skills
Excellent communication skills – including oral, written and presentation skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good knowledge of one or more of the ESRI GIS software add-ons and some knowledge of scripting language in a GIS environment
Solid experience within a consultancy setting and project management experience in an internal consulting or strategic role
