Job Purpose: To produce cartographic and GIS products to support the reporting requirements of a project. Manager’s Job Title: Cartographic & GIS Manager
Principal Accountabilities:
Responsibilities include assisting with the duties of the Cartographer as detailed below, in addition of the duties of a Senior Cartographer:
Preparation of data for CAD using spreadsheets, custom macros and software suites
Production of charts and illustrations using MicroStation/AutoCAD from authors drafts and processed data
Ensure charting is produced to the highest standard and accuracy within allocated time frames
Ensure work is completed to agreed deadlines
Maintenance of Chart Catalogue system
Implement Cartographic Procedures
Provide training for cartographic personnel
Advise upon the purchase and maintenance of Software, Equipment and Supplies
To be aware of the contents of the company's quality and Safety Policy Manuals and of ones responsibilities in the workplace that effect the health and safety of one self and those of work colleagues
Any other duties deemed necessary, which are within the bounds of the incumbent’s competence and function
Skills, Knowledge and Experience: Qualifications : Degree or formal training in Cartography including knowledge of Physical Geography, Geodetics and Hydrographic Surveying Skills & Knowledge : In depth knowledge of cartographic practices and standards. Ability to mentor and train others. Experience : Min 10 years’ external experience in Cartographic or related industry
