Job Vacancies > Ordnance Survey - Cartographer

Salary range £22,216 - £26,487 per annum
Location Southampton, UK

Our Cartography area is recognised globally as a centre of excellence - and we are now looking for great people to join our team. You’ll develop and progress with us as you get involved in editing mapping data, to enhance Ordnance Survey core products. With a willingness to learn, you’ll gain excellent knowledge of generalisation, to represent real world features at different map scales.

You’ll work on a range of products and support activities, not only drawing maps, but also updating databases using GIS and customised tools. This role will offer you the opportunity to work across a variety of mapping scales and learn new skills in editing mapping data and generalising to add value to Ordnance Survey’s products. You will be expected to take responsibility for monitoring your own work to compare finished product with the expected outcomes to ensure accuracy and thoroughness. This is a vital role in the organisation as it ensures Ordnance Survey’s products are updated to meet our customers’ expectations.

Relevant training in edit systems and production processes will be provided, as required.

Essential criteria:
  • Good knowledge and skills in GIS
  • Good attention to detail, able to provide accurate, efficient and honest quality checking for own work.
  • Good knowledge and skills in MS Office
