Nautical Cartographer
Location: Wellington, New Zealand

The New Zealand Hydrographic Authority (NZHA), within Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), has an opportunity for an experienced Nautical Cartographer to join our small high performing team.

Under the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention we are responsible for the provision of hydrographic products and services. This includes the production and maintenance of official navigational charts and publications, as well as promulgation of Maritime Safety Information (MSI) through Notices to Mariners and radio navigational warnings for our area of coverage.

At LINZ, you will be part of a team of Nautical Cartographers supporting the annual charting programme and Notice to Mariners publications.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant nautical charting experience working in a GIS database, preferably CARIS or similar
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience with the application of IHO S-4 for paper chart production and S-57 for ENC products
  • Drive to consistently push self and others for results
  • Thrives working in a team environment
  • Responsive and approachable communication style
  • Committed to producing high quality work
