Manager-owner Hanno Koch set up the first digital cartography department in the former mapping division of the Royal Dutch Airlines. In his role as senior project manager he was responsible for all international mapping contracts, mainly dealing with NGOs and National Mapping Agencies. This provided him with a wide range of experience: from aerial photography to large & small scale map productions, from orthophoto production to the creation of data sets for GIS purposes. Hanno founded Latitude Cartography Ltd. shortly after his move to Dartmoor in the UK in 1999.
Our small team of dedicated professional chartered associates are working for a varied (international) clientele.
For example:
Decorative maps have been made for clients such as the ocean liner the “Queen Mary 2” for which three charts were produced and etched onto glass panels each 10ft x6ft tall.
A car satellite navigation system ‘proof of concept’ was developed.
A 10 year county ‘school capacity forecast’ was produced based on school location, postcode area and census data.
Highly detailed land-use, greenspace and urban morphology surveys have been produced for a number of local authorities.
A GIS was developed, implemented and staff trained for a leading UK forestry service.
Management plans and training are regularly provided for land managers and other digital map users.
Various prestigious estates have called upon our services to implement either basic digital mapping tools or complex map based total management solutions.
New bespoke topographic maps in various scales have been produced derived from one (OS) large scale dataset or new mapping based orthophotography, field surveys and old historic paper maps.
In January 2008, Latitude Cartography was granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen in recognition of services and products rendered over the last 5 years to the Sandringham Estate.
