Membership of the Society represents a wide range of cartographic interest.
To cater for these there are the following established groups:
* The Map Curators' Group (MCG)
The MCG is for librarians, curators, map historians and map collectors. A newsletter, Cartographiti, is issued up to 3 times a year; an annual workshop and specialist visit is arranged immediately prior to the Annual Symposium.
* The Map Design Group (MDG)
A gathering of slightly anarchistic cartographers, academics, software gurus and interested citizens who not only appreciate cartographic design, but also enjoy changing the misconceptions cartography has about itself.
* Historical Military Mapping Group (HMMG)
Group members have a very wide range of military mapping interests, with a strong focus on 19th and 20th century military survey and mapping. Talks and visits are regular features of the group's activities. A newsletter is issued periodically.
* GIS Group
Interested in joining like minded people involved in using or creating maps from GIS software?, then this group will interest you. It's a new group that had a discussion talk at the 2008 Symposium, to plan its aims and what it's outcomes should be. More news will be held here once it is finalised. Meanwhile, visit the forum pages to add thoughts and comments about the direction of the group.
* Education Committee
Are you involved in cartographic education? Teacher, trainer, training provider, education developer, employer or staff development officer. Then this group is for you.
Please Contact Us for further information or download the Groups membership application form and post to the Administrator (address details are on the form).
