Dr. David Forrest
Dr. David Forrest A fellow of the Society, David was President 2000-2 and is currently chair of the UK Cartography Committee. He is also Vice-chair of the ICA Commission on Use & User Issues and member of the Editorial Board of The Cartographic Journal.

Having graduated from University of Glasgow in Topographic Science, he worked as a land surveyor before going to Canada to study and then teach cartography. He has been a lecturer/senior lecturer in Geomatics at Glasgow since 1991, teaching all aspects of cartography, mainly to students on specialist mapping science degrees.

His research focuses on topographic map design, tourist mapping and geospatial public information provision (such as information for tourist and travellers). It also includes examination of how map design within GIS can be supported by more intelligent software to support non cartographically aware users.
