Collins GEO
Collins Social Studies Atlas for Nigeria and Collins Keystart UK Atlas
Although these were presented as two separate entries the judges felt they were so similar in design and presentation that it would be have been difficult to choose between them. Both atlases tell a story in maps, diagrams, charts, text and images using clear and uncomplicated cartography with a good choice of colours and symbols. The complete visualisation of the atlases was felt to be very effective in communicating the full range of different themes and topics to the intended age groups.
Graham Gill from Harper Collins to collect the Stanfords Award on behalf of the Collins Glasgow office.

Global Mapping
The Earth Concise World Atlas
A really comprehensive view of our planet and all its resources, it is almost encyclopaedic in its scope with well-designed thematic maps, a section on the history and art of cartography, profiles of the countries of the world, all backed-up with stunning photographs and highly-detailed maps, especially in their physical relief.
Mary Spence of Global Mapping received the certificate.

Platts
US Coal Activity Wall Map 2009-10, Natural Gas System of Europe Map, Electric Power System of Europe Map and Electric Transmission in Europe poster map
Presented as a single entry, the judges felt that these maps were excellent at presenting the vast amount of detailed information associated with these themes. These complex maps were well-designed with good colour balance and well laid out legends with a good use of symbols.
Unfortunately it was not possible for a representative from Platts in the USA to attend, so ICA President Bill Cartwright collects the certificate on their behalf.

Collins Geo
The Irish Times Universal Atlas of the World
This may be an atlas with more conventional mapping but the judges were impressed with the extra pages devoted to Ireland and also the section on the history of cartography and the continuation of this theme with the insertion of beautifully printed historical/archive mapping of countries across the world.
Graham Gill collects the certificate on behalf of the Collins Glasgow office.
