Canary Wharf Route Planner

This product was developed to enable the marketing-suite to promote the accessibility of Canary Wharf to potential tenants within a 3-hour rail journey.
Using creatively-designed dynamic, static and schematic displays, the cartographic visualisation of the rail journey from the station of origin to Canary Wharf was imaginative, morphing from an initial conventional mapping backdrop through the traditional London Rail and Underground map to the straight tube-line diagram, matching the mode of travel for each section of the journey.

This was an excellent and innovative concept and the judges believed it had high potential for future development, for example mapping journeys to the Olympic venues in 2012.

CD ROM North American Natural Gas System Atlas 2008-09

This specialist atlas provides a very comprehensive view of the complete natural gas system across the United States, Canada and Mexico, giving the user easy access to a high-level of detail and information with a flexibility to print, create images and share with colleagues.
The range of features was impressive with good choices of colour and symbols which did not overwhelm the background mapping, which always remained clear and legible whenever using the interactive features on the 250 linked PDF pages.
Overall the judges believed that this was a cartographically-effective and practical product.

Unfortunately Platts were unable to attend the presentation from the USA so BCS Vice President Cliff Nicklin collects the certificate on their behalf from BCS President Bob Lilley.
