Afternoon of Wednesday 9th June 2010
13:30
Take the opportunity to create your own cartographic design using some of the latest releases in large scale mapping. Gain expert tuition on the advanced principles of cartography and how to apply these principles to commercial GIS software.
Before the meeting delegates are eligible to receive samples of OS Vector Map Local data from Ordnance Survey and UKMap from The GeoInformation Group to create a cartographic product for critique during the workshop.
Presentations and discussions included:
An introduction to UKMap
An introduction to OS Vector Map Local
How to produce high quality mapping from the datasets
Applying cartographic design to GIS output
Enjoyable and educational. Seeing and discussing ‘real maps’ was very useful.
