John trained as a land surveyor and has held senior management positions in both Ordnance Survey and UKHO. He has over 30 years experience in the geospatial information industry specialising in data collection and management, cartographic development and production, policy and strategy and marketing. He now runs his own company specialising in business and management consultancy and the provision of world-wide mapping and geospatial data services to marine and coastal sector clients.
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), a Chartered Marketer and a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). He holds professional qualifications in Surveying Science and Geodesy and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and Strategic Planning.
John is a Director of the UK Association for Geographic Information (AGI) and a member of the BCS. In these roles he has assisted in developing closer links across both organisations to the mutual benefit of both membership communities.
He is married and lives in Taunton and lists his interest as playing golf, cricket, walking and gardening.
