Mr Richard Carpenter
Mr Richard Carpenter Richard is Technical Adviser within the Transformation group within the UK Hydrographic Office which is responsible for modernising the charting and production processes across the organisation. He joined the UKHO early in 1979 after graduating from Cambridge with a degree in Natural Sciences and has worked within many digital charting and defence areas of the organisation, including managing their electronic production teams.

In the mid-1990's, using experience gained in developing several system specific products (such as the digital map for the Merlin helicopter), he defined the concept of and standard for Additional Military Layers (AML) - that NATO standard for hydrographic situational awareness information. Beyond Cartography, Richard is actively in his local church and is also a school governor.
