UK GEOforum is pleased to announce its forthcoming UKGEOforum 2013 Lecture featuring guest speaker:
Mark Ovenden
Author of “Metro Maps of The World”, “Paris Underground, The Maps, Stations, and Design of the Metro”, and “Railway Maps of the World”
Title: “How Beck's diagram re-mapped the modern world”
Marks lecture will cover the following areas
- Rail "diagrams" before 1930
- How Beck brought these ideas together and made his revolutionary Underground map
- What were his principles?
- How quickly was it copied?
- Transit mapping worldwide
- Weird and wonderful transit maps
- Whatever next; moving to PDAs/real time mapping
