The UKHO Junior Mapmaker Award
This new award has been developed to encourage the creative representation, by children, of their environment in graphic form. The competition is run by The British Cartographic Society with the support of The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO). The awards will be given every two years and comprise a cheque for £50 and certificate for the overall winner in each of four age groups ranging from 7-16 years
The four age categories are: Atlas: 7-9 years Mercator: 9-11 years Ortelius: 11-14 years Ptolemy: 14-under16 years

The Judges considered this to be a highly detailed and particularly neat piece of work of part of the coast known to Timothy. The inclusion of a quotation summed up his day. It was felt that this young man could have quite a future if he chooses cartography as a
career.
