The MCG of the British Cartographic Society is pleased to welcome booking for its annual Workshop, to be held 7th and 8th September 2011 at Park Inn, York. |
Theme: How to do more with less: promoting and running a map collection in a time of austerity
How is your map collection succeeding with less money and fewer staff? Come and share your positive experiences with your colleagues!
Wednesday 7th The speakers will be:
- Andrew Janes (The National Archives) Make do and mend : signposting the unfindable on a budget
- Carolyn Hansen (Brooklyn Historical Society) Un-hiding maps @brooklynhistory: Using blogging software and social media to promote collection visibility
- Jean-Luc Arnaud (French National Research Center, CNRS) CartoMundi - online promotion of cartographic heritage
- Stuart Nicol (University of Edinburgh) Visualising Urban Geographies project
- Rink Kruk (National Geographic Institute, Brussels) The Cartesius project
- Bob Lilley (Manager Cartographic Design & Development, Ordnance Survey UK) OS OpenData
The annual Business Meeting of the Map Curators' Group will follow the full-day programme of speakers.
The day will finish with an optional group meal at a local restaurant.
