Air photographs: ca.1,200 verticals (1946 onwards) and 200 obliques (1926 onwards) for the local area. Digital vertical coverage 2000 onwards.

Content: There is a small collection of pre-OS county maps, covering the areas of Berwickshire, Peeblesshire, Roxburghshire and Selkirkshire, including those by Armb, Blaeu, Brown, Knox, Moll and Stobie. Extensive collection of OS 1:2,500 2nd edition (1897-99) covering most of the Borders, with some updated editions for 1921 and 1932. Some special maps illustrating roads and railways.

Content: Approx. 6,600 sheets. Manuscript maps and plans, mainly for Sheffield and South Yorkshire, 17th-2Oth centuries. Special collections include the FAIRBANK COLLECTION (surveyors - 1736-1848); and the ARUNDEL CASTLE MSS (among which are over 1,200 maps for Sheffield dated 1699-1820, including 19th century street plans, colliery plans, etc.) Aerial photographs for South Yorkshire.

Publications include a Guide to the Manuscript Collections (1956), Supplement to the Guide (1976) and Guide to the Fairbank Collection.
