Kent County Council is shocked and saddened at the destruction of Ramsgate Library, Museum and Gallery by fire during the night of 13th August. It is too early for us to comment on the cause of the fire as the incident is in the hands of Kent Police Authority and the Kent Fire and Rescue Service who are continuing investigations.

Temporary alternative library services will be available while we consider how to restore access to the full range of services in the longer term.

An alternative service is being provided by a mobile library, which will be parked in Waitrose car park in Queen Street, Ramsgate from Thursday 19th August.
