The organisers of this year’s Map Curators’ Group Workshop are very pleased to announce the following addition to the programme.
Barbara Bond MBE
“Communicating with maps and charts: did the message get through?”
Mrs Barbara Bond, Pro-Chancellor, University of Plymouth has agreed to give a repeat of the Helen Wallis Memorial Lecture which she gave at the BCS Symposium in June.
Barbara is the former Deputy Chief Executive of the UK Hydrographic Office, chaired its Antarctic Commisssion, and was awarded the IHO’s Prince Albert I medal. She is a Fellow and past-Council member of the Royal Geographical Society, and Fellow and past-President of the British Cartographic Society and was awarded the British Cartographic Society Medal in 1999 for her distinguished contribution to cartography.
Although an exact time has yet to be confirmed, we are hoping Mrs Bond’s talk will be given at the National Library of Scotland’s Map Library on the morning of Thursday 10 September.
Another of several good reasons to join us in the Scottish capital in September!
