The BCS/SoC Conference is coming and we have been busy planning some exciting changes and new programme format.
Entitled Maps for Changing Reality the conference will be held at the Redworth Hall Hotel, County Durham from the 5 - 7 September 2017.
Expect a collection of excellent presentations, hands-on workshops, interesting debates, lightning talks and more.

Call for Papers
We invite submissions for papers within the main conference sessions and are looking for contributions to fit within the following themes in particular:
- 3D Mapping
- Augmented & Virtual Reality
- Web Mapping
- Current Affairs
- Topographic Mapping
- Open Data
- Map Design
- Data Visualization
- Mapping our Planet
- Historical Mapping
- Fantasy Maps
- Disaster Mapping
Those interested in making a contribution to the conference should complete the following online form and submit via the website by Wednesday 15 March 2017.
Papers should aim to be presented in 25 minutes (plus 5 minutes for questions) and all proposals will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- the clarity of the proposal and its fit within the conference themes;
- the originality/innovation of the topic and/or the project and its approach;
- the potential implications for the wider cartography community; and
- the anticipated interest in the subject matter.
Successful applicants will be notified by Monday 3rd April. Proposals for successful applications will be put on the conference website prior to the event. These will include the abstract, keywords, outline, plus any references deemed appropriate.
