For 38 years Ken worked for the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) where, apart from six years in the post of Curator of Original Documents, his time was divided almost equally between the compilation of Admiralty charts and aerial photography. He took early retirement in 2001. Ken joined the BCS in 1984 and since that time has held a variety of posts including Membership Officer, Secretary, Treasurer, Society Administrator and Vice President (twice). He is currently co-opted onto Council in an advisory role. He is an Honorary Fellow of the BCS, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a member of the Society for Nautical Research, the Defence Surveyors’ Association and the South West Maritime History Society.
