The UK Hydrographic Office is a leading centre for hydrography, providing marine geospatial data to inform maritime decisions. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners to support maritime navigation, safety, security and marine development around the UK and worldwide.
We place great value on preserving our history, therefore our archive is home to a priceless and unique collection of charts, artefacts, technical data and books dating back to the 17th century. Our archive team carefully manage this collection, restore documents that have fallen into disrepair and also offer a first-class research service, which enables scholars worldwide to access over a million paper records.
The Archive Research Manager is responsible for the operation and effective financial management of the Research Service. The successful candidate will be required to provide excellent customer service including advising or arranging specialist research assistance, making presentations to high level international visitors, working closely with the Head of the Archive and other UKHO colleagues. This role will also give the successful candidate the opportunity to improve archive lists or catalogues, for example completing new data sets.
The post is for 24 hours per week.
