GeoViz competition

Win £100 Stanfords gift voucher – design our GeoViz logo

This year we are proud to launch GeoViz, a new programme of activity that supports and nurtures cartography, map making and geographic data visualisation. GeoViz will provide useful and informative content through a range of online material, events and more.

But we need a logo and that’s why we’re organising this competition.

Deadline: 28 February 2021

We’re looking for a strong symbol for GeoViz that will give it a clear identity.

We are looking for a symbol that:

  • is clear, bold and timeless

  • can be easily adapted to one colour, but you can be as colourful as you like

  • would look good big or small, on a map, pin-badge, t-shirt or flyer

As well as having their symbol used for all GeoViz branding, there will be a prize of a £100 Stanfords gift voucher for the artist(s) of the winning design.

A judging panel will shortlist designs and pick the final winner. The panel will be made up of BCS volunteers and relevant experts.

How to enter:

  • Anyone can enter (unless you are a judge or related to a judge).

  • All designs must be submitted before the end of 28 February 2021.

  • You can submit up to two different designs.

  • Your design must be original and designed by you or your team.

  • You should submit your symbol ideally as a vector (.ai .eps .svg), or high-quality image (.jpg .png).

  • Submit your entry here.

Please note: in order to upload your logo design you will need a gmail account. If you do not have one but still want to enter the competition, then please email vicepresident@cartography.org.uk

Important information:

  • If your design wins you must be willing to potentially make small alterations to it. In the future we may need to make additions or changes too.

  • You give the BCS permission to publish and share your design in BCS publications and across our social media platforms even if it does not win.

  • If you win, you’ll give complete ownership of the design to the BCS. The judges reserve the right to not pick any designs or extend the competition.

Why not share your ideas and work in progress online using the hashtag #GViz?
