Circa 5,000 OS maps, 1845 to date, relating to the Bolton area, various scales and editions. Bolton 1:1,056 (1882). Manuscript maps and plans relating principally to Bolton and southeast Lancashire (including estates, enclosures, turnpike roads, industry, collieries, public buildings, etc.), 1620-1950.

Collections include ALBINSON COLLECTION (1,380 items ca.1700-1850); THOMPSON COLLECTION (2,924 items 1620-1950); LADYSHORE COLLIERY COMPANY RECORDS (300 maps 1835-1950); and RAILWAY COMPANY RECORDS (186 items 1848-1910) for which typescript lists are available. Small collection of aerial photographs relating to the Bolton area.
