Approx. 13,000 maps, of which about 6,000 are current mapping of Great Britain. They include OS complete coverage at 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 and smaller; and geological, land use, soils and other thematic maps. Larger scales are biased towards Lancashire; as is the historical collection.
Foreign mapping at 1:50,000 and smaller, both topographic and thematic, with a bias towards Africa (east), USA (west) and parts of Europe, especially France, Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain. A small number for other areas.
