Circa 70,000 sheets and 600 atlases. Current topographic and earth science maps for the UK at 1:50,000, and topographic maps at 1:25,000. Larger scale OS maps at 1:10,000/1:10,560, including 19th century County Series for the whole of Scotland at 10,560 and 20th century County Series at 1:2500. Patchy collection of geological maps for Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA. Presently updating topographic coverage of European countries.
Special collections include 19th century foreign geological maps and atlases.
Subscription to Digimap, including Aerial, Geology, Historical and Marine. As well as the Statistical Accounts of Scotland
In the summer of 2009, the University Library received from the Ordnance Survey a section of its historical archive which included complete sets of the editions of the County Series mapping at 1:2500 scale for the counties of Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Stirlingshire, as well as the town plan series at 1:500 for the majority of the burghs in the west and south-west of Scotland.

Map collection forms part of the Maps, Official Publications and Statistics Unit, which is staffed Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Access
Access available to general public on application for a visitor's ticket. Prior appointment desirable, but not essential.
Library open 361 days of the year from 07:15-02:00 (Closed 25 & 26th December, 1st & 2nd January).
