Liddle Collection
University of Leeds
The Liddle Collection, awarded Designation status, documents and preserves first-hand accounts of individuals who experienced the two World Wars. It was started privately in the early 1970s by the military historian Dr Peter Liddle and was established as part of Leeds University Special Collections in 1988.
The collection contains several hundred First World War (1914-1919) War Front maps including Trench Maps: Gallipoli (1915), Macedonia (1915-18), Italy (1917-18), Mesopotamia (1915-18), Egypt and Palestine (1915-18), East Africa (1915-18), various regions of Russia (1918-19), and India. There are also French, German and Turkish War Front maps etc.
The collection also contains a large number of air photographs, in particular for France, Belgium and Italy.

Prior appointment is required. Most items from this collection can be made available for consultation in the Special Collections reading room

Photocopying and photography by arrangement ; but because of the nature of the material photocopying items from the Liddle Collection is not always permitted.
