Maplines

The magazine of the British Cartographic Society

Maplines is our popular magazine, free to all members. It is published three times a year: spring, summer and winter.

Printed copies are sent to Full, Affiliate, Corporate and Small Corporate members, and Fellows. Student members receive digital versions only.

Digital versions of past issues going back to 2003 can be found in the Geoviz Resource Centre.

Submissions

We welcome contributions to Maplines from members and non-members, including news, views and short articles.

Non-members

If you submit an article and it's chosen for the next edition, then we will send you a printed copy in the post, anywhere in the world for free.

Editorial team

Oana Candit

Oana is a PhD student and cartographer interested in urban cartography and graphic design, working for Esri Romania.

Alina Vizireanu

As the Geospatial Manager at Milton Keynes City Council, Alina leads her team in advancing geospatial systems and geodata integration across public services. Beyond her local government role, she is the Senior Editor of the British Cartographic Society for Maplines magazine, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), and Vice-Chair of the International Astronautical Federation Space Education Outreach Sub-Committee (IAF - SEOC). She balances her technical expertise with a commitment to charitable activities aimed at inspiring future professionals.

Peter Vujakovic

Peter is Emeritus Professor of Geography at Canterbury Christ Church University. His research interests range from children's mapping, via maps for landscape studies to cartography and geopolitics. He is co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of Mapping and Cartography.
