Maplines

The magazine of the British Cartographic Society

Maplines is our popular magazine, free to all members. It is published three times a year: spring, summer and winter.

​

Printed copies are sent to Full, Affiliate, Corporate and Small Corporate members, and Fellows. Student members receive digital versions only.

​

Digital versions of past issues going back to 2003 can be found in the Geoviz Resource Centre.​

Submissions

 

We welcome contributions to Maplines from members and non-members, including news, views and short articles.

​

 

Non-members

 

If you submit an article and it's chosen for the next edition, then we will send you a printed copy in the post, anywhere in the world for free.

Editorial team

 

Oana Candit

Oana is a PhD student and cartographer interested in urban cartography and graphic design, working for Esri Romania.

​

Ghada Sahbeni

Ghada is doctoral researcher at Eötvös Loránd University, in Budapest, Hungary. She works on developing models for the detection and prediction of salinisation processes, using remote sensing and GIS tools.

​

Alina Vizireanu

Alina specialises in design, analysis, implementation and application of geospatial projects at Affinity Water UK.

​

Cristina Andra Vrînceanu

Cristina is a postgraduate research student with the University of Nottingham’s Geospatial Institute. She develops algorithms for the detection and mapping of natural hydrocarbon pollution offshore, using satellite data and a variety of new technologies.

​

Peter Vujakovic

Peter is Emeritus Professor of Geography at Canterbury Christ Church University. His research interests range from children's mapping, via maps for landscape studies to cartography and geopolitics. He is co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of Mapping and Cartography.​​
